The Cabochon Opal Engagement Ring is handcrafted in solid 10ct, 14ct or 18ct gold, set with a cabochon opal. A smooth, polished cabochon shows off the colour and glow of the stone rather than facet sparkle. The bezel (rub-over) setting wraps each stone in a smooth rim of gold. It protects the edges and gives a sleek profile that will not catch on clothing.

At its core is an eye-catching cabochon natural opal, known for its incredible play of colours and ethereal beauty. Set in a delicate bezel, the opal is 7 mm in diameter, making it the star of this beautiful ring.
Opal is 5.5–6.5 on the Mohs scale, which makes it softer than sapphire or diamond. It is lovely to wear often, but take it off for the gym, gardening and housework, and keep it away from perfume and cleaning products.

18ct gold (75% pure gold) has the richest colour and a luxurious weight. 14ct gold (58.5% pure gold) is the most popular balance of colour, durability and value. 10ct gold (41.7% pure gold) is the hardest-wearing and most affordable option. Every option is solid gold all the way through, not plated.
White gold is finished with a bright rhodium plating. Over time, usually every 12 to 18 months with daily wear, it can soften to a warmer tone. Any jeweller can re-plate it quickly to restore the bright white finish.
